Office/work food 🤗Most days, when I’m working in the office this is basically the kinds of food I take to work.I pretty much always make a salad in the morning (takes literally 5 mins) and then take a can of naturally smoked tuna to put with it at lunch. My snacks are usually nuts, berries, bliss balls and/or carrots and peanut butter.I hear so many people saying they don’t have enough time to prepare healthy food before work, that it’s too time consuming and difficult. But it really doesn’t need to be. My salads aren’t anything flash, just a few ingredients that I absolutely love together and that are easy to prepare.Same with the snacks, it’s really not hard to put ya fave nuts and strawberries into a container.Anything like bliss balls, or even cooked carrot and kumera can easily be prepared either on a Sunday or the night before.Healthy eating at work is easy and it is doable.Keep it simple and think ahead! It’s as easy as that 🥗
Seared salmon and Asian slaw goodnessIf I could eat salmon every night of the week I seriously would.I honestly think salmon is a super food.. it’s a great source of protein, omega 3’s, B vitamins, potassium, selenium, has antioxidant properties and is an awesome source of healthy fats! What more could ya want from a food?
HALLELUJAH! This is the first cafe iv been to in New Zealand that sell paleo options!Yup this breaky is paleo! Paleo bread, paleo hollandaise. The whole shabang!I got way to excited when I found this . Salmon eggs benny has always been one of my fave meals but I haven’t had it in a long time because I had never been able to find a cafe that makes a paleo version.. until now !We defs need more cafes like this around NZ.
Day 4 of free work dinnersGluten free nachos with orange pulled pork . Wasn’t quite paleo this time, but I still enjoyed it . This last week has been the most physically demanding week i have ever had. Spent 8 hour days walking/ sliding up and down nearly vertical terrains in the bush.I remember reading about how over exercising, for estrogen dominant women in particular, can over stress the body and actually promote fat gain as opposed to fat loss. I never really understood that until this week. I have been eating super healthy for the most part and exercising like crazy (not willingly ) and I actually feel so much more run down, and it looks like I have actually put on weight. So I guess the moral of the story is don’t over do it. Many women are just not designed to be doing hours of exercise each day. It can actually cause more damage than good! It’s always good to keep active and go for walks etc. but remember to have some days where you don’t do any intense exercise and just relax
I’m away for work all week this time, and we have dinner at a new restaurant every night. This meal is by far my fave so far!!! It may not look like much, but that pork was to die forI have been doing my absolute best to mix and match foods on the menu to meet my paleo ‘needs’. If I went back a couple years, this is defs something I would have been far too embarrassed to dobut if I’m being honest, I really don’t mind asking now! It’s something you get used to after doing a few times and usually they don’t mind shuffling around a few things to make ya happy!
Last nights super quick and easy dinner .My go-to salad dressing is normally sesame oil and lemon, but I decided to mix it up a bit this time (such a dare devil, I know ) and used a small amount of balsamic vinegar and avocado oil! It’s honestly probably my new fave oil to use now! It has a different taste to what I expected but my god it was good!! I swear I get way to excited about things when it comes to food .Ingredients include: - lettuce- Cherry tomatoes - Red Onion- Marinated feta (in olive oil)- 2 boiled eggs - Lemon pepper tuna - Sunflower seeds- Salt and pepper - Balsamic vinegar (in spray bottle)- Avocado oil
Had a big breaky today so this was my not so big lunchWarm lemon water with paleo toast topped with avocado, cherry tomatoes, pumpkin seeds, fresh basil and coriander and salt and pepper . This will forever be my fave combination on toastI have been trying to have cup of warm lemon water each day now as it is great for helping digestion and detoxification
On the odd occasion, when I’m out with friends, I eat meals that aren’t entirely paleo like the gluten free bread in this meal.I think it’s super important to have goals but not to beat yourself up about it when you stray from them a little. If we didn’t make mistakes every now and then we wouldn’t be human!! Happy eating everybody
DETOXIFICATION: Listed above are some of the BEST detoxifying foods there are!! Unfortunately we all absorb health-damaging toxins through our blood stream every day from environmental toxins, and our bodies also produce their own toxins. These toxins can weaken the immune system, increase the ageing process and cause inflammation in the body (among other things). So i thought it may be helpful to briefly outline some of the reasoning/benefits behind the first 4 best detoxifying foods above1. Sauerkraut: because it is fermented, it contains beneficial bacteria (e.g. probiotics) that can help with bowel movements and regularity, improved digestion and helps to maintain a healthy gut microbiome.2. Dandelion: it is a good source of vitamin C important for removing free radicals, and is suggested to be good in promoting liver and gallbladder function and stimulating digestion.3. Eggs: they contain Sulfur which is an important component of glutathione which helps support healthy liver function and detoxification. Make sure you buy organic eggs!!4. Cruciferous vegetables: these veggies contain several compounds (including small amounts of Sulfur) that assist the liver with both the detoxification pathways. If anyone would like to know the benefits of the rest of the detoxifying foods listed above let me know. And hope you found this helpful
